4 FEBRUARY 2025: UNREST IN MOZAMBIQUE

First Distribution of Maize Flour
On 27th December, the Nation newspaper of Malawi reported today that 12,600 Mozambicans have fled into southern Malawi because of the unrest and Mozambique. This trouble has resulted from elections which were held in Mozambique on 9th October, and which resulted in the Frelimo presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo, being confirmed the victor. Despite Daniel Chapo claiming victory, Venancio Mondlane of the Podemos Party has also claimed victory and vowed to install himself as president resulting in running battles between the police and civilians.
We have received a report showing that 929 Mozambican refugees had sought refuge in 56 villages where we have FIA churches. This number will have increased since the report was written. This means that church congregations have refugees to care for when they do not have enough food to feed themselves following recent cyclones and crop failures. Even though they have very little, they will share their homes and their food with these refugees. We made a fund transfer to Malawi on Monday 30th December and a second transfer on 13th January for the purchase of 258 x 50kg bags of maize flour so that these churches can provide these refugees with food.
In a video call with Dan Nkhandwe and Wesley Msamange on Sunday evening to discuss our third transfer of funds for maize flour, they told me that the cost of maize flour has increased once again. This is because they are having to import flour because of shortages in the country following crops failures. On 30th December a 50 kg bag cost Malawi Kwacha 48,000, On 13th January a 50 kg bag cost MK60,000. Today the same 50 kg bag costs MK96,000!!! This would have significantly affected the number of bags which we could provide in our third transfer. However, I received the following message from Wesley on Monday morning:
“I had an opportunity to talk with the one who sold us the bags of flour and we have agreed that since we buy in bulk, he has lowered the price of each 50 kg bag of flour to MK75,000 (from MK96,000). It is
only applied to us as Faith in Action Church. I couldn't believe it, but I just saw God this morning.” This meant that were able to provide another 186 50 kg bags of maize flour, as with our second transfer. On 18th March, we provided a further 132 50 kg bags of maize flour.
I received a report from Dan Nkhandwe recently that 200 of these Mozambican refugees have already chosen to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour following the love which they have received from these churches, and they are currently being baptised. In Osiyana Village all 40 refugees have become Christians.

14th MARCH 2025: TROPICAL STORM JUDE

We saw a wonderful answer to prayer just before Christmas. Cyclone Chido had caused extensive damage to the island of Mayotte on 14th December, and it was heading towards southern Malawi where they had already experienced four cyclones in recent years which had caused extensive damage to large parts of this region. We were able to ask people to pray that this cyclone would lose its power as it moved inland. I was able to track it on a weather app and this app reported that when this cyclone reached the coast of Mozambique, the winds were 140 miles per hour, but by the time it reached Blantyre, they were only 40 miles per hour and little damage was done there. It also tracked further to the north of Blantyre and so the Lower Shire region, which had been devastated by recent cyclones, was not affected at all.
We saw a further miracle on 14th March. Tropical Storm Jude was heading directly towards the Lower Shire in southern Malawi. Following the forecast of further destruction, church congregations prayed and miraculously this storm completely changed direction, heading back to sea, as seen on the screen image of my weather app on that day.
